Financial Planners on a Quest: The Story of Your Financial Watchdog

"Without a doubt you were 100% correct about rolling to a Roth.  Your suggestions are working beautifully for me.  Thanks...

                        ~  Barbara S.       Retiree

"You were very thorough, professional and friendly.  You put us at ease and helped greatly as we discussed and planned for our financial future...unlike all other financial planners we have dealt with, you did not try to manage our assets, nor take a fee based on what we had accumulated already.  You were a pleasure to work with."

                          ~  Mel & Sherrill G.         Professor, Realtor

"I enjoyed your competent, professional, laid-back and friendly approach...fun, interesting, well-rounded."

                           ~  Linda C.        Attorney

Since the late 1980's, we've worked with hundreds of individuals and families, helping them guard against the risks of the future and move forward with confidence.

The three of us joined forces with one desire:  to help those independent souls who love freedom and control, and just need a mentor or two along the way to help them stay the course to success.

Once Alice opened the doors of her fee-only business several years ago, dropping her sales licenses, and started networking to get the word out, the people started calling her: much like the movie Field of Dreams---“Build it and they will come.” She realized she was just tapping the tip of the iceberg with folks who needed objective advice from an experienced professional, but didn’t meet the money management minimums of the typical wealth management firms, or didn't want to pay the fees.

They simply wanted professional advice without being “sold,” and that understanding led her to form “Your Financial Watchdog”  with Dwight and Karen to bring these resources to people in the convenience of their homes. They're strongly committed to working with people who are cost conscious do-it-yourselfers, and decided to go against the mold of financial planners in general, who are focused on people with money to invest.

Alice Bryan, CFP®

My work in the financial services industry goes back to 1988, when I decided to work in this field because of the challenges and growth opportunities, and most importantly, the flexibility to set my schedule to be home with my young children.  I’m not a numbers person, but I understood that finances  has a lot more to do with emotions and relationships than numbers.  There’s a ton of psychology needed in our field, which fascinates me as well......

Karen Bolton, CCPS, RFC®

I’ve always been fascinated by the world of financial planning. I always enjoyed reading with great interest the latest in the financial journals.  So, I decided to enroll in an online financial planning course that satisfied the education requirements to take the CFP exam, and it confirmed that I indeed was on the right path. After spending twenty years in accounting and IT for a fortune 500 corporation, I decided to pursue my passion for financial planning.  I wanted to help families achieve financial peace in their life by simplifying the process.  Financial planning is like a puzzle; you just have to put the pieces in the right places to have a sound plan......

Dwight Kellams, CPA/PFS, CFP®, MBA

Prior to becoming a financial planner, I made a livelihood as an Accountant. My attempts at forging a career in Accounting included: public accounting; small company (200 employees) assistant controller; and large company (Fortune 500) corporate income tax accountant.  But something was always lacking in my jobs.....
